Kahlert, Helmut P. age 78, of Minnetonka. Past president of MN State Band, former member of the 451st Army Reserve Band and musician in many other bands. Retired from the MN State Agricultural Dept. Preceded in death by his brother, Richard Oertel; father, Paul Kahlert; and stepfather, Fritz Oertel. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosa; children, Karen (Mark) Proffer of Minnetonka, Heidi (Dan) Myers of Savage and Tom Kahlert of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Gibson, Michael Proffer, Christina (Curtis) Kooiman, Stephanie, Nicole and Courtney Myers, Matthew, Alexandria and Lucas Kahlert; great-grandson, Jaxon Gibson; mother, Cacilie Oertel; sisters, Dorothea Mueller and Helga Cary; nieces and nephews; sister-in- law, Barbara Oertel. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to A.L.S. Association. Visitation Monday 5-8 PM.
