Perkins, Richard (Ric) of Brooklyn Park passed away peacefully April 30. Ric was a loving partner, parent, grandparent, brother, and friend. His greatest passions were family, music education, and music performance, and he filled each day with those gifts. Ric taught music for 46 years--notably, from 1973 to 2014 at Anoka Ramsey Community College. There, he was beloved by countless students, faculty, and the greater music community. In June 2015, the college acknowledged his dedication and infinite contributions by naming a room at the college after him: The Richard J. Perkins Rehearsal Hall. In addition to playing in many bands, quintets, orchestras, and ensembles, one of his proudest musical accomplishments was, along with two friends, forming the Lake Wobegon© Brass Band in 1991. This group, along with others he touched by his talents, plays on. His life was full of love, which he so generously shared. His heart and his music will forever be with us. Preceded in death by: Parents, Jared and Dorothy (Pat), and his brother, Mike. Survived by: His wife and best friend, Kris Horstman; his son, Zachary, and wife, Karen (grandson, Gabriel Richard, and granddaughter, Olivia Anne); his son, Josh, and partner, Lisa Meier; his stepson, Brad Horstman (granddaughter, Koralyn Kristine Horstman). He is also survived by brother, Jerry Perkins, and sister-in-law, Pat, their children and grandchildren; his sister, Maryann Ingbretson, and husband, Russ, their children and grandchildren; brother, Dan Perkins; and sister-in-law, Judy Perkins, her children and grandchildren. Also surviving are countless treasured friends and former students. Open visitation with family Monday, May 16 from 5 p.m. 8 p.m. at the Glen Haven Chapel.
