Olson, Erwin Peter 96, of Golden Valley, MN, passed peacefully at The Wellstead of Rogers on May 22, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife Delores, brother Lyle Olson, sister Evelyn Tidemand, and grandson Ted Winn. He is survived by his children Barbara (Brian) Beerman, Wayne (Jane) Olson, Jacqueline Olson, Romaine Olson, and Timothy (Laurel) Olson, 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Erv was born on April 30, 1916 in Palermo, North Dakota to Martin Theodore Olson and Louisa Wilamena Peterson Olson. He graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. Erv married Delores Elizabeth Herting and they enjoyed many memorable years together until her death in 1980. They raised three daughters and two sons in Minneapolis. Erv spent most of his working career with Electric Machinery Corp. and traveled worldwide to numerous countries consulting and supervising the installation of large generators until he retired in 1982. He was considered an expert in his field and loved his work. Erv was well known by his neighbors for being the guy they could take things to be repaired. He could repair almost anything and was always happy he could help others. He restored a large collection of vintage radios over the years and was very proud of every car he owned, particularly the DeLorean he parked in his garage for several years. Erv had a passion for music, he was very talented and played a number of different instruments, all by ear. His music idol was Glenn Miller. Erv loved a good cigar and was easily recognized in his later years by his cowboy hat and boots that he wore. He enjoyed many mornings visiting with his good friends at McDonald's for breakfast. Everyone loved Erv and enjoyed his conversation and positive attitude. He truly was a good person and will be missed by everyone that knew him.
