Bauck, Virginia Mogg Born 5/14/1923 - Died 5/1/2016 Virginia Mogg Bauck passed away 5/1/2016 unexpectedly following a fall in her apartment over the weekend. She was born in Moose Lake, MN and lived with her family, growing up in various locations in the Twin Cities and in Iowa. She earned a degree in Statistics at the University of Minnesota and following a Civil Service exam upon graduation, she was offered a job in Washington, DC where she worked until her fiancée returned from WWII and they married in 1946. She had 3 children, Beth (Mike) Montgomery, Warren (Verna) Bauck and Stewart (Louise) Bauck. Widowed in 1985, she did not return to elementary education as a teacher which she had been doing for 14 years. However, with a burden for students that needed extra help in reading, she established what she called the Reading Grannies program with volunteers who would sit with students chosen by their teachers as needing extra help in reading. It did really help those students and the volunteers loved the process as well. Having moved to Calgary, Alberta with a job transfer, the City of Calgary acknowledged Virginia's contributions in education and particularly the Reading Grannies program as their outstanding volunteer after she had been doing the program for many years, which she very much appreciated. She moved back to the Twin Cities in 2012 and has lived here until the time of her death. Memorial service Saturday, May 7 at 11:00 AM at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Rd, Edina.
