Anthony, Richard "Dick" age 92, died peacefully on December 26, 2011 while in hospice care in Edina, Minnesota. Dick was born on April 7, 1919 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to parents Berenice and Frederic Anthony. After attending high school in Redwood Falls, Dick attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1942 with a B.A. Degree in Journalism. While at the university he met Adeline Knuth and married her on July 3, 1943 before being sent to the Pacific Theater while in the United States Army. When Dick was honorably discharged in 1945, he started his career in broadcast journalism and worked for several years in radio news broadcasting in Minneapolis and Fargo, North Dakota before moving to Duluth, Minnesota in 1948. While in Duluth, Dick worked 23 years at KDAL Radio and KDAL-TV (now KDLH-TV) as a Television News Director and Six O'clock Anchor, Public Affairs Producer and Reporter, Radio Newscaster and Talk Show Host. He also worked six years at WDSM Radio and KBJR-TV as Radio News Director, Newscaster, TV Editorial Director and Public Affairs Producer. Dick ended his broadcasting career in Madison, Wisconsin as Manager of News and Informational Programing for WHA-Radio (Wisconsin Public Radio). During his career Dick also was an instructor and lecturer for subjects pertaining to broadcast journalism and communications. His hobbies and other interests included volunteer work, fishing, snowmobiling, photography, genealogical research and writing. He was preceded in death by his wife Adeline, and his granddaughter Patricia Lynn. Dick is survived by his son Rick Anthony and wife Florenda, his daughter Gail Anthony, his son Steve Anthony and wife Karen, his grandson Nathan Anthony, his granddaughter Michelle Anthony, and his dear friend Lois Antonich and her family.
