Hunter, Peter Douglas age 86 of Alpine, CA, passed away peacefully at his home on December 3, 2011. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Susan; children, Paul Hunter (Vera), Mark Hunter (Sydney), Christine Hohlfeld (Louis), Margaret Hunter, Elizabeth Stelter (Craig), Kathryn Hunter, and Anne Novak (Thomas.); 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Peter was a native of Croydon, England and served his country of Great Britain in the British Merchant Navy during WWII and afterward was a member of the British Foreign Service, serving in North Africa and Asia. Peter met his first wife Kay Hunter (Beringer) in Ethiopia and was married in Barcelona Spain. After immigrating to the United States, they settled in Bloomington MN and raised 7 children. During that time Peter was President of Peco-McClintock and later owner of Seven Seas Yachts. After retiring, Peter moved to San Diego where he met and married Susan. Peter is pre-deceased by parents, Harold Douglas Hunter and Violet Diamond and his sister, Audrey Thompson. Peter loved to travel the world and mastered the highways of the USA. He was a wonderful storyteller, and an avid learner. Peter loved to sail Lake Minnetonka just as much as tinkering at his workbench. Peter was loved by all and had a profound influence on many. His passing leaves a great void for all whose lives he touched. The family would like to thank San Diego Hospice for their excellent care of both Peter and his family. Funeral Services will be held in El Cajon, California. Visitation Thursday Dec. 8, 4:00 to 8:00 at El Cajon Mortuary, 874 So. Mollison, El Cajon, CA. Funeral at First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon, Friday 10:00 am.
