Morrison, Henry T. Jr. "Nick" 76, passed away at home on April 17, 2016 in Boise, Idaho, after a long battle with cancer. Nick was born in Pleasantville, NY on December 21, 1939 to Mary Peavey Heffelfinger and Henry Terry Morrison. Nick attended Blake Schools, Thatcher School, the University of Minnesota, The Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, and Yale Divinity School. Nick leaves his beloved wife of 37 years, Karen Anne Nelson Morrison, and their dear son Luke David Dmitri Morrison (Tami Christensen), and six loved children from a previous marriage: Jane Syverton Morrison (Mike Sadler), Henry T. "Ted" Morrison III (Amy Zeh), Laura Sage Morrison (John Gueringer), Sasha Blake Morrison (Steve Gohde), Catherine Thayer Morrison (Jon Norris), and Elizabeth Yancy Morrison (Mark Beltrand). A dozen grandchildren blessed his life: Beau Morrison, Isabel and Will Bartig, Sam and Elle Gueringer, Alexandra, Blake and Quinn Gohde, Graham and Asher Beltrand, and Gabriella and Ben Norris, and his dear pet, Lucy. Siblings Thomas Truxton Morrison, Anna Ewing Bull and Jane Morrison Dwight survive Nick. Nick's parents and siblings Heff Ewing, Sherm Ewing, Lucia Ewing, and Gray Morrison, and his father in-law James Nelson, predeceased him. Also surviving Nick are his mother-in-law Marie Nelson, brothers-in-law James Nelson, Jr. (Lisa) and Kurt Nelson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Nick was a true renaissance man. Seeking adventure and diversity, he enjoyed various pursuits in his lifetime. He started at the First National Bank in Minnesota, during which time he had a short stint playing for the Minnesota Vikings. Nick worked in marketing at General Mills, and then with SeaVentures, a catamaran business in the Bahamas. This was followed by work in motion picture production with Belford Enterprises. After marrying Karen, he attended Yale Divinity School and was ordained an Episcopal priest. Nick was passionately involved working with various churches in Idaho, Arizona, and Minnesota. In Minnesota, Nick started Crocus, Inc. licensing, manufacturing and distributing videotapes. A move to Arizona led to a much-loved year teaching Business Communication at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. In Phoenix, Nick had a successful three years at Russ Lyon Realty, handling the relocation of the NHL Winnipeg Jets to the Phoenix Coyotes. Nick's last and most enjoyed occupation was with Minneapolis Cardiovascular Research Institute, where he was President and CEO. Nick retired due to health issues in 2007 in Ketchum, Idaho, and he and Karen moved to Boise in 2014. Nick was passionate about conversation, family, networking, and people. Wherever Nick went, he made friends and all who were fortunate to know him were better for it. He treated everyone he encountered with respect, from the checkout girl at the grocery store, to the bank president. Family and friends were blessed with his gift of the art of storytelling. Before his health prevented it, Nick was a traveler with great wanderlust. His love of Europe and the islands is evident on his passport, showing at least 55 overseas trips. Nick was a most generous man and was always sure to make events special and remembered by family and friends. He will be deeply missed and dearly remembered. A Celebration of Life Service for Nick will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 2:00pm. Hayward Wesleyan Church, Hayward, Wisconsin.
