Wilson, Ronald John of Minneapolis, MN, was born in Oakland, CA on September 18, 1945. He passed away on November 19, 2011 at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian (Edlund) Wilson; father, Gene R. Wilson; uncles, Russell & Marvin Edlund; aunt, Elaine (Edlund) Reyes. He is survived by Valorie - his beloved wife of 39 years; daughter, Kelli Wilson; son, Mark Wilson (Jessica); son, Jeffrey Wilson (Leah) & grandson, Griffin. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria (Bradford) Croissant; mother-in-law, Irene Anderson; the Anderson & Martin families; special cousins, Nancy (Gary) Leegard; their son, Mark & daughter, Dawn (Jason) Johnson & Rhett; Karen (Don) Reamer-Elbert & family; aunts, Betty Edlund & family; Ellie Drabek; and by many other valued family & friends. Ron grew up in south Minneapolis. He graduated from South High School in 1963. In the mid-'60's, he joined the United States Marine Corps. After a tour of duty in Vietnam, he returned home in 1968. He received 2 Purple Hearts. Ron married Valorie Anderson in October of 1972. The Wilsons are a close-knit family who enjoy doing a variety of activities together. Ron had a quick wit and loved to laugh. His interests included reading, boating, fishing, traveling - plus watching & participating in many sports. He retired from the Sears-Roebuck Co. after 30+ years of service. Ron faced the many challenges of his illness with determination and dignity. Our family is thankful for the decades we had together & for the many ways he enriched our lives. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. On the following day, there will be a Visitation from 10 to 11 AM with the Memorial Service from 11 to 12 PM at the BRADSHAW FUNERAL HOME, 3131 Minnehaha Avenue South, Minneapolis.We request that these gatherings be scent-free.
