Nathanson, Maxine M. Age 89, of Minneapolis, passed away Sept. 11, 2011. Survived by sons, Bruce (Beth), Robert, Richard, CDR, USNR (Ret); grandchildren, Audra, John, Jessica, Skyler, Joseph, David, Leah; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia (Sam) Sarat, Barbara Horwitz. Maxine was a public education teacher for many years. She was appointed by President Kennedy to the Wednesdays in Mississippi Program. She served on many boards and committees including The National Council of Jewish Women, the Urban Coalition of Minneapolis, and the Minnesota Council for the Gifted, and she served as the Executive Secretary for the Citizens Committee on Public Education. Maxine received the WCCO Good Neighbor Award, she was inducted into the University of Minnesota Women's Athletics Hall of Fame, and many other recognitions.
