Kendall, Robert L. age 83, resident of the Minneapolis Veteran's Home, formerly of Northfield, MN, died March 20, 2016. Bob was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Syracuse University, where he studied with Arthur Poister. Following his studies, Bob served four churches in New York State, Michigan and North Carolina as the Director of Music. In 1965, he joined the faculty of St. Olaf College, where he taught organ and music theory. While sharing the duties of chapel organist, he continued to serve churches in Minnesota. Bob played many recitals in eastern and mid-western states, as well as Austria, Germany and England and directed summer workshops. His last position as church organist was at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Northfield, MN. Survived by wife, Beth; sons, Earl (Christy) and James (Deborah); Beth's daughters: Meggan (Kevin) McQuillan, Leila McGrath (Jeff Hahn), Mary McGrath, Amy McGrath (Masood Bhatti) and Melissa McGrath (Daniel Lanpher) and seven grandchildren. There will be a tribute in music to Bob's life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 60 N. Kent St., St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to charity of donor's choice. Private interment.
