Hartmann, Steven J., MD Age 55, of Eden Prairie, passed away June 1, 2011. Survived by wife, Cindy, father and mother, Rev. Marvin and Marion (Gutknecht) Hartmann of Fargo, ND, brother, Nathan, of Lake Stevens, WA, brother , Joel (Dawn) of Burnsville, MN, sister, Deanna Hoffman (Brian) of Monticello, MN, niece, Sarah Hetz (Adam) of Springfield, MO, niece, Eliza Hartmann, Burnsville, MN, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Calvin and Rose Marie Lien of Eden Prairie, MN. Steve was a board certified psychiatrist at Park Nicollet Clinic from 1991-2009 when he needed to retire as a result of medical complications associated with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He had previously worked as a psychiatrist at the Atlanta Veterans Administration Medical Center and was an assistant professor at Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, Atlanta, GA. He completed medical school at Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN after receiving his undergraduate degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. He also attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Steve was a voracious reader, enjoyed many different types of music, particularly classical and jazz, kept up on the latest sports cars and motorcycles, and enjoyed outdoor activities. He was admired by colleagues for his quiet competence. Steve was a very optimistic person and was a joy to be around despite struggling with his illness. He will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held, Sunday, June 12, with visitation at 1 pm and service at 2 pm, at Minnesota Cremation Society, 7110 France Avenue, Edina, MN 55435. Memorials preferred to Park Nicollet Foundation, Park Nicollet Clinic, 3800 Park Nicollet Boulevard, St. Louis Park, MN 55416 or the donor's choice of charitable organization.
