Erickson, Loretta Irene (nee Eder) Born November 27, 1932 in Turtle Lake, WI; died March 20, 2011 in Minneapolis. We will miss our loving wife, Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma who passed away from cancer on Sunday at home surrounded by family. Loretta's life was one of giving and service to others. "Tud" raised three daughters; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved spending time with her. She was also foster mother to many young children. She worked for the past 29 years as an elevator operator in the Young Quinlan building. She loved interacting with people and had a special knack for remembering faces, names and events of those she met. Many waited to ride on her elevator for her smile and uplifting words. She was honored for her years of service at a recent retirement celebration attended by many. Loretta had volunteered in many ways through the years as a Camp Fire Leader, at the Universalist Church, school classrooms and various fund raising groups. Loretta loved her family, home and work. She enjoyed her garden, wild birds (especially Cardinals) and the many animals left in her care. She was a strong willed, hard working, loyal woman with an exceptionally caring heart. Survived by loving husband of 60 years, Gerald; daughters, Rachel McElroy (Alan Bell), Viki Yaritz (Robert), Kari Gill (Edward); grandchildren, Amber, Tim, Laurel, Haley, Courtney, Anthony (Regina) and Krista; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ashley, Lilly and Aayla. Preceded in death by brother, Jerry Eder. Survived by brothers, Robert, Merle, Arnold and Virgil Eder; sister, Pearl Pulyu; many nieces, nephews, friends and her devoted dog Snoopy. In the spirit of Loretta's giving nature, memorials preferred to Friendship Ventures (friendshipventures.org) or Sisters' Camelot (sisterscamelot.org). Memorial service Saturday, March 26 at 5:00 p.m. Visitation 1 hour prior at Cremation Society of Minnesota 4343 Nicollet Avenue, Mpls. (612-825-2435)
