Hendey, Edith Alice Anna "Edie" (nee Jakubeit) Edie, a long-time resident of Minneapolis, passed away March 24, 2016. Born July 14, 1924 in Maszen Kr., Memelland, East Prussia. She was the first child of August and Maryke Jakubeit (deceased), sister to Georg Jakubeit, deceased, (Edeltraut), Johannes Jakubeit (Helma), Eva Doblies (Gerhart), Brigitte Jakubeit (Peter), Ingrid Stein (Günter), Elke Aschmann (Martin), all of Germany and Waltraut Stevenson (Robert) deceased, of B.C. Canada. In the United States Edie is survived by husband, David; son, Brian; daughter, Deborah Brister (Robert), & granddaughter, Sophia. Edie lived her life in deep faith, courage, dignity and gracious hospitality and her family expresses their appreciation to the dedicated staff at Redeemer Health and Rehab Center-Minneapolis, for the loving care they provided during the last eight years. A candle-light Requiem will be held at 1:00 PM Friday (April 1), at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 4557 Colfax Ave. S, Mpls., with visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be offered to the Animal Humane Society of Minnesota in Golden Valley or the St. Luke's Organ Fund, in honor of Edie's affection and passionate care for her animal companions and her deep love for the music of the church.
