Brand, Joanne Steinberg age 91, of New Hope, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2010. Joanne was born 2/19/19 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Narcisse Pouliot & Emma (Mingo) Pouliot. She married Leslie Steinberg Sr. in 1939 at Ascension Catholic Church Mpls. Les preceded her in death in 1972. Joanne married Raymond Brand in 1976 at St. Margaret Mary Church, Golden Valley. Ray died in 1983. Joanne is also preceded in death by brothers Donald Pouliot & Raymond Pouliot and is survived by sisters Jeanne Arland Peterson and Rita (Herb) Loken of Bakersfield, CA. Joanne is survived by all of her children: Barbara (Dolores) Steinberg, Mary Jo (Bill) Bonin, Nancy (Dave) Ostman, Janet Steinberg (Jay) Bohn, Leslie Jr. , Teresa (Dave) Lynch, Robert, Laura (Tom) Flynn, Julie (Bob) Budke, Carol (Kelly) Gosz, Mary Brand (Tim) Cermak of San Francisco, CA, Ron (Gail) Brand. Joanne is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Growing up in north Minneapolis Joanne attended Ascension School and North High. Music was an important part of her life & at age 14 she assisted Dorothy Lundstrom at her dance studio. Joanne sang on WCCO radio with her sisters, directed choirs at Ascension, St. Margaret Mary & many others. She loved to direct musical shows and did so for corporate events and organizations and causes which were important to her (church related, equal rights, 4H & many others). Joanne may be best known for directing the St. Patrick's Show at Ascension for 30+ years. In addition to her artistic talent, Joanne sold real estate for many years winning top awards for her service. She was blessed with an abundance of wonderful friends from all the corners of the world she touched. Joanne would tell us she is most proud of her family of 9 children born to her & Les and the blessing of Ray's 3 children she considered her own, along with all their offspring. Joanne will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends. Mass of Christian Burial 1PM Thursday at The Church of the Ascension, 1723 Bryant Ave. N., Mpls. Visitation 4:30-7:30 PM Wednesday with 7 PM prayer service at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave N. in Plymouth Visitation also 1 hour prior to Mass at church.
