LaVola J. Hilgermann

Hilgermann, LaVola J. age 92, formerly of Deephaven. Born June 23, 1918 in Windom, MN, passed away on Oct. 18, 2010 at Friendship Village in Bloomington. Preceded in death by parents, Louis & Synnove Smaage; husband, Dr. George Hilgermann; stepson, Geoffrey Hilgermann; 2 brothers and 1 sister. Survived by stepson, George "Tad" Hilgermann Jr.; other relatives and friends. LaVola was employed by Sears Roebuck & Co. for 27 1/2 years working as an Employment Manager in the Personnel Dept. She served on the Retail Trade Committee for many years and as President for two years. When she resided in Windom, LaVola was instrumental in establishing the Windom Concert Association. She was also a member of Windom Evangelical Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. At her death, LaVola was a member of St. Martin's- by-the-Lake Episcopal Church of Minnetonka Beach, the Board of Directors of Stevens Square, the Minneapolis Art Center, and a longtime member of the Lafayette Club. A special thank you to all of the caregivers on LaVola's behalf. Memorials preferred to St. Martin's by-the-Lake Episcopal Church or donor's choice. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Memorial service Friday, Oct. 29 at 11 AM, with visitation 1/2 hour prior at St. Martin's by-the-Lake Episcopal Church, 2801 Westwood Drive, Minnetonka Beach.
