Samuel Thomas Merz

Merz, Samuel Thomas age 34, of Duluth. Born Jan. 16, 1976 and died unexpectedly Aug. 10, 2010. Sam is survived by his parents, John & Marianne Merz of Ridgway, CO; brothers, Jonathan Merz of Maplewood and Jorge DeVries of The Netherlands; sister, Leah Studaker-Eull of Elk River; several nephews & 1 niece. Sam is also survived by birth brothers & sisters in Colombia, and many aunts, uncles & cousins. Sam worked in the construction industry in Minnesota. He was an avid snow skier, water skier and fisherman. Sam had a profound love of nature and was most at peace when he was enjoying the great outdoors. Sam will be greatly missed by family & friends. Memorial service Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Victoria Catholic Church, 8314 Victoria Drive, Victoria (952-443-2661).
