Dr. Marshall Everett Daniels

Daniels, Marshall E. Dr. Marshall Everett Daniels, 97, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills in Minnesota. He was formerly of Rockford, IL and Mound and Shoreview, MN. He was born on July 21, 1913, in Chicago to Samuel John Daniels and Mary Katherine (Erickson) Daniels. Preceded in death by his father, mother, two sisters, and in January of 2010, his wife of 67 years, I. Elizabeth "Betty" (Lillestrand) Daniels. He is survived by children Marcia (Craig) Kronholm of Shoreview, MN, Thomas (Nicola) Daniels of Roscoe, IL, Richard (Nicolette) Daniels of Shoreview, MN, grandchildren Ross (Stacy) Kronholm, Leah (Andrew) Quick, Scott (Angele) Kronholm, Aimee Daniels, Ryan (Nicole) Daniels, Brett Daniels, Andrea (Jeremy) Heckman, Troy (Jessica) Daniels, Krista (Adam) Saxon and great grandchildren Tom, Austin, Blake, Lilly, Autumn, Sienna, Linnea and Thomas. Schools he attended include North Park College in Chicago, Armour Institute of Technology, Art Institute of Chicago, University of Minnesota and Augsburg College in Minneapolis. His early training was in architecture and he received awards at the Chicago Art Institute and the Beaux Art Institute of Design in New York. He was part of the design team for the Sherman M4 tank and optical units for the Manhattan Project. He graduated from the Illinois School of Optometry and established his practice in Rockford, IL. Dr. Daniels was a man of many interests and talents. He continued to pursue his painting in retirement. His greatest love was music. In addition to singing with and leading various church groups over the years, he was a member of the famous Apollo Chorus in Chicago. Dr. Daniels was active in the leadership of Awana Clubs, Young Life, and Youth For Christ. He and his wife participated in over 25 medical mission trips to Central and South America. A Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills Chapel on Sunday, September 12, 3020 Lake Johanna Blvd., Arden Hills 55112. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Christian Medical and Dental Association, Presbyterian Homes Foundation or Indigenous Peoples Technology and Education Center (I-TEC).
