Paulson, Ethel Mobroten Age 96. Dear Mother and Grandmother. She passed away peacefully on August 9, 2010 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Elmer. She is survived by her sister, Myrtle Kranz, her children, Stanley (Bonnie), Bruce (Janice), Rolf (Linda), and Elizabeth (John) Miller, and eight grandchildren, Todd, Sonja, and Brian Paulson, Martin, Kai, and Margit Miller, and Greg and Simon Shearer. Ethel was born in Forbes, Minnesota on March 31, 1914, to Jest and Marthea Mobroten, the sixth of eight children. She attended Virginia High School and the University of Minnesota, graduating from the latter in 1937 with a degree in Library Science. She worked as a school librarian at North High School in Minneapolis before marrying Elmer on August 3, 1940. Along with her duties as a homemaker, she was a dedicated volunteer at the University of Minnesota Hospital Patient Library for over 25 years, and was involved with her church libraries wherever she lived. She was a longtime member of the Ramsey County Medical Auxiliary. Ethel enjoyed staying busy with hobbies, crafts, sewing, and baking. Most of all, she adored her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Special thanks to the very professional and loving care she received from all the staff members at the Shirley Chapman Sholom Home East. Memorials preferred to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Library or Vesterheim, the Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa. Memorial Service Monday, August 16th at 11:00 AM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Ave., St. Paul, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service.
