McAfee, Mark A. Age 57, of Lakeville MN, passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2010. Survived by loving wife of 30 years, Betsy; his constant companions, Jack, Sam, and Pepper; parents, Alfred and Alice McAfee; sister, Sue (Mike) Elle; nephews, David (Kathy) Dufner, Nick, and Ben Elle; great nephew, Ethan Dufner; Aunt, Aline Oihus; cousin, Karen (Mike) Linse; and many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle, Bill Oihus; cousin, Rick Oihus; and mother and father-in-law, Marguerite "Peggy" and Larry Macek. Mark was born in Austin, MN and grew up in Roseville, MN. He received his Bachelors Degree at St. Cloud State, and his Masters Degree in Political Science at the University of CO Boulder. His career as a lobbyist began at the MN Farmers Union in 1979. He currently worked for AFSCME Council 5. Mark loved life, history, politics, travel, cooking, jazz, farming, animals, nature, and the MN Twins. Mark had a big heart and cared deeply for his family and friends. His generous spirit and great sense of humor will be forever missed. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday May, 11, 2010 at 12:30 PM at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave So., Edina 55435. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota, 2530 Dale St. Roseville, MN 55113 and to the Minnesota Valley Humane Society, 1313 Highway 13 East, Burnsville, MN 55337.
