Svendsen, David G. Age 74, of Maple Grove, passed away Feb 8 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Member of the 1961-62 St. Cloud State Hall of Fame Hockey Team before enlisting and serving in the U.S. Navy in Japan. Graduated from St. Cloud State, and the U of MN (MBA). He was a longtime employee of Cray Research, Inc. After retirement, Dave embraced the role of "stay-at-home Dad" for Alex, the love of his life. He was a fervent supporter of prep sports, and a dedicated volunteer at Providence Academy for more than a decade. He will be deeply missed by the many family, friends and neighbors for whom he provided love & support in so many ways. Survived by daughter Alexandra (Alex) Svendsen, her mother Heidi Leenay (Mark); brother Mike (Joan); nephews Greg (Karen); Jeff; Kurt (Andi) Svendsen and niece Amy (Chris) Clark; his great-nieces and nephews and his very close friends/ care-givers Gary and Lynn Grey. Service Monday, Feb 15th at Lord of Life Church, 7401 Cty. Rd. 101, Maple Grove. Visitation 10 am, service 11 am followed by luncheon.
