Mary M. (Sandberg) Lindell

Lindell, Mary M. (Sandberg) Died January 25, 2016. Born October 27, 1924 in Galesburg, IL, daughter of Oscar and Esther Sandberg. Mary graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL. She worked in the Augustana Synod youth office, Mpls, before becoming youth director at Augustana Lutheran Church, Denver. In 1957 she married Rev. David Lindell. They served as missionaries in India until their retirement in 1991 when they settled in Mpls. While in India, Mary taught school, directed theater productions, and hosted many visitors. In 2014, Mary moved to the Augustana Apartments, where she enjoyed social activities and took an active role in worship services and Bible study groups. Mary is survived by children John (Lori) Lindell, Lisa (Peter) Hoh, Mimi (Thomas Hanson) Lindell; grandchildren David and Sarah Hoh, Tim Lindell; step grandchildren Alyson and Mariah Hanson; brother Harold (Alice) Sandberg, sister Alice Johansson, sister-in-law Margaret Lindell; many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by parents, husband David, sister Helen. Memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 20, 2016, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2730 E. 31st St. Minneapolis, MN 55406. Memorials may be sent to Opening Doors Building Fund at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church; Grace Hospice, 1007 East 14th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55404; or donor's choice.
