Mary Ruth (Rodrick) Stanley

Stanley, Mary Ruth (Rodrick) died peacefully at home in Florida on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 86 years old. Mary was born on her grandparent's farm in rural Pine Island on September 23, 1929 and grew up in Byron Minnesota. She was married to Robert Stanley in September 1954 and lived in Prior Lake, Inver Grove Heights and Chaska. Robert passed away in 1965. Mary went back to school and was a 39 year old freshman in 1969 getting her teaching degree in Special Education. She taught in the Prior Lake and Carver-Scott Coop districts until her retirement. She moved to Florida and enjoyed living in the warm weather. Mary was an active leader in the Methodist church, an avid bird watcher and nature enthusiast. She enjoyed camping and playing cribbage. Mary is preceded in death by parents Arbie and Helen, sister Elizabeth, husband Robert. Survived by children and their spouses Valerie (Thomas) Oestreich, Sheri Dennis, Brett (Wendy) Stanley, Troy (Michael Mitchell), grandchildren Heather Dennis and fiancé Jeff Folz, Jeremy Dennis, Jack Stanley, Kate Stanley, Conner Cox and Meredith Cox, great-granddaughter Mercedes Dennis. She is survived by siblings Sandy Rodrick, James (Mary) Rodrick, Emily Rodrick (Janis Alexander), many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial service Wednesday February 3, 2016 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Discovery United Methodist Church, 275 Lake Drive, Chanhassen MN. Memorials preferred to the family 260 NW 76th Avenue. #208, Margate, FL 33063.
