McCully, James D. age 88 of Burnsville passed away January 8, 2016. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Barbara; daughters: Lisa McCully Smith (Les), Ann McCully; Grandchildren: Nathaniel Wahl and Claudia Wahl, and their father Gil Wahl; Sister-in Law: Margaret Keith, Niece: Vicki Lyon (Dave), Brother-in-Law: Keith Crider (Bonnie Stuart); nieces and nephews; Jennifer Crider Ditscheit, Caitlin Crider Collazo, Kristin Murphy, Karen Lougee and Jeff Crider. Born in Fargo, ND, Jim was a proud Navy Air Corps veteran, serving on the USS Midway. He and his wife met as students at Iowa State University in Ames, IA where he earned his BS degree in Business. After their graduation, they married and became lifelong residents of Minnesota. Jim enjoyed careers with Prudential Insurance Company, Josten's, Bermel-Smaby Realty and Edina Realty. Throughout their married life, he and Barbara enjoyed travels to the homes of their ancestors, Ireland and Switzerland, 10 winters in Arizona and most importantly, time spent with family. Jim enjoyed a variety of sports, but golf was his passion. Many summers were spent boating on Lake Minnetonka and the Mississippi River. He will be most remembered for his love of family, his resilient and upbeat attitude, his wonderful storytelling and sense of humor. A private service was held on January 13 and interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
