Gehl, Calvin Clarence age 83, of Fort Pierce, FL, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Ft. Pierce, FL. He was born Nov. 5, 1924 in Washington County, Minnesota and moved to Ft. Pierce 21 years ago, coming from Bloomington, MN. Mr. Gehl was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked as a commercial artist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, The San Jose Mercury News and for many years as an art director for Colle McVoy Advertising Agency in Waterloo, IA and Mpls., MN. Mr. Gehl was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlean Gehl; son, Thomas Gehl of Waterloo, IA; 3 daughters, Donna Miller of Port Wing, WI, Debbie Deveny of Minnetonka, MN, and Karon Sandberg of Appleton, WI; brother, Len Gehl of Seneca, IL; sister, Audrey Waugh of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers, Clifford, Donald & Gerald Gehl. Inurnment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN, 11 am, Oct. 20, at Assembly #4. Luncheon will follow at Wooddale Lutheran Church, St. Louis Park, MN. Donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1850 6th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Mr. Gehl.
