Rufer Gerald, 86, attorney of Fergus Falls, died 12/31. He was admitted to the Minnesota bar in 1940. He practiced at the Minneapolis firm of Meagher and Geer. He was wounded in the D-day invasion in 1944 and received the Purple Heart. In 1946, he began practice in Fergus Falls joining the firm of Del and Rosengren, now known as Pemberton, Sorlie, Rufer, and Kershner. He served on the Minnesota State Board of Law Examiners and as its president, and a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Survived by his wife, Louise; son, Stephen (Sandy); and three grandchildren. Visitation Thurs. 3 to 7 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls (218) 736-7586 and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Service 1 p.m. Fri. at Church of Peace United Methodist, Fergus Falls.
