Flaten Dorothy Caroline, age 94 of Edina, MN died peacefully at The MN Masonic Home 12/30/2001. Preceded by her husband Wesley O. Flaten and brother John C. Carlson, Edina. Survived by her children, Mary Flaten of Mpls. and John Flaten (Betsy) of Edina; sisters, Helen Wessinger and Adele Piscelli, Port Richey, FL; brother, Robert E. Carlson, Pine City, MN; sister-in-law, Doris Carlson, Edina; grandchildren, Lesley Flaten (Tony Uttley), Houston, TX and Catherine Flaten (Dien Ngo), Apple Valley; great grandchildren, Hannah & Grace Uttley, Houston, TX; and many adored nieces, nephews, and relatives. ``Dottie'' was born Dorothy Carlson 1/12/1907 in Spokane, WA and raised by her parents Roy and Florence in Pine City. She was a 1929 graduate of Carleton College and a longtime member of St. Stephen's Church, Edina, Abbott Hospital Auxiliary and Mpls. Woman's Club. She taught high school English in Wykoff and White Bear Lake, MN in the 1930s and was a loving wife and mother, aunt, friend, tutor, volunteer, bridge partner, sport's fan, and advisor. Visitation (10:30 a.m.) and memorial service (11:30 a.m.) on Thursday 1/3 at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel (Hwy. 100 & Vernon Ave.). Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
