Odt, Jane Honstad Minnetonka, Minnesota Jane Odt, and her exuberant, creative self, died on Sept. 12, 2008. She was born on Aug. 7, 1928, to Sophie and Leonard Honstad of Stanley, WI, where her parents owned and operated an International Harvestor dealership. Jane graduated from Stanley High School, and then attended St. Olaf College and Eau Claire State Teachers College. In 1952 she married Heman Odt, and they made their home in Minnetonka where she raised their 2 children, Christine and Nelson. She was also an active member of the League of Women Voters, and the only female member of the Minnetonka Planning Commission. In later years, Jane became a talented potter and taught at the Minneapolis YMCA and the Minnetonka Art Center. In addition to her pottery, Jane's artistic side showed through in the presentation of the wonderful food she made without recipes, in the magical eclectic place she called home, and in every specially wrapped gift she gave. Jane's many friends included Minnesota and Wisconsin potters, participants in Northland Rec Lab, and members of St. Luke Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her brother Lennie, her parents Sophie and Leonard, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her children, Christine (Madison, WI), Nelson and daughter-in-law Susan (Excelsior, MN), grandchildren Alex (Trukee, CA), Liza (Excelsior, MN) and Emily (Madison, WI). The memorial celebration of her great life with us will be at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3121 Groveland School Road, Wayzata, Minnesota, 55391, at 2PM on Sunday Nov. 2. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke Presbyterian Church.
