Moldenhauer, Evelyn (nee Thomas) age 88, of Columbia Heights. Born in Minneapolis, MN on March 11, 1920 to Ernest and Frieda Thomas. She grew up in Chaska, MN, was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church in Chaska on April 9, 1933 and graduated from the Chaska High School in June 1937. She then attended business college and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. She worked in the office of Kincaid and May Brothers, a wholesale grocery firm. She married Arthur E. Moldenhauer on September 4, 1939 in Chaska, MN. They had two children - a son, Wayne and a daughter, Diane. Evelyn and Art started their own business after World War II, A.E. Moldenhauer, Inc., which repaired and rebuilt machine tools. Evelyn worked as its secretary-treasurer for 30 years until she retired in 1984. She was an active member of St. Matthew for over 50 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 1982; her son, Wayne in 1998; and her daughter-in-law, Donna in 2000. She is survived by daughter, Diane Lawrence of New Hope; granddaughter, Suzanne Moldenhauer of New Hope; brother, Ted Thomas of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Eileen (John) Powell of Rockville, MD; and nieces and nephews. Evelyn loved music, liked to play the piano, and was an avid reader. Evelyn knew her greatest gift was her family and she prayed that we will all be reunited in Heaven.
