Keller, Joyce E. age 84, of Mounds View, MN, passed away September 18, at Fairview Southdale Hospital, in the presence of her loving family. Joyce's life was filled with her love of books, writing, education, and knowledge. After graduating from high school, and then the University of Toledo, she began her career life as a Teacher. As a Naval wife initially, Joyce lived in many ports and enjoyed seeing the different part of the U.S. As her family grew, she became very active in her community. She was a natural born "community organizer" forming a community day care, baby sitting swaps, and she was active in Scouting, etc. Joyce also found time to write for the local newspaper, for which she won several awards, and was active in the League of Women Voters. As her children grew, she again went back to school to obtain her Master's Degree from the University of Minnesota. This new course took her into the corporate world, working now on internal survey research for Control Data Corporation; later launching her own successful survey research firm, K.R.A. Joyce retired from her company, but continued her gift of knowledge by tutoring ESL students. Joyce's grasp and love of the English language was amazing and she was always willing to share that with her own children/grandchildren in any assignment they had. But also she provided hours and hours of help to immigrants in her community who needed additional help, which brought her great joy. Joyce's other great passions were her time spent at the cabin with Lou, her husband (deceased), tending to her flowers, her dog Mindy, bird watching, a good book, chocolate, and a good political debate. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Keller. Joyce is survived by her children: Jeff Bailey (Molly Grove), Sharon Bailey (Bob Platte) Eric Bailey (Terry), David Bailey (Lynnette) and Lisa Onken (Kraig), and two step-children Thayer Keller (Cindy) and Chris Keller (Sherri). Joyce is also survived by nine grandchildren whom she loved dearly. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
