Horovitz, "Sir" Allan Myron of Edina, died Friday, October 9th at age 78. Preceded in death by parents, Rose and Bernie Horovitz. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deborah, sister Gail Frisch (Gerry), children Kathryn, James and Rebecca, and grandchildren Deviney, Kaitlin, Reilly, Alexander and Megan. Allan had a long association with the food industry, including running Bernie's Deli. He was known to his many friends and relatives, with whom he annually shared his famous homemade pickles, as a gregarious chef, host and raconteur. He was famous for his collection of cookbooks, argyle socks, taste in shirts and bargain-shopping prowess. Cremation will be conducted by the Cremation Society of Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allan's memory to Twin Cities Public Television. Friends and relatives are invited to visit the family and share memories on Tuesday, October 13th, from 4-8 pm at 4705 W. 44th St., Edina. Allan loved food and loved to talk about food. The next time you experience a great meal, raise a glass in Allan's honor.
