Wicklund, Lori L. Died on 10/01/2015. She was a warm, loving and intelligent woman with beautiful brown eyes and a laugh that made everything around her sparkle. She lived a life of fun, adventure, love and deep meaning. As a life-long atheist, she lived her life to the fullest, knowing that this was her only life, and it was to be experienced with joy. Lori lived life while experiencing much of the best that life has to offer. She found enjoyment in such diverse activities as driving her Jaguar fast, and gardening in our back yard. She loved her kitties and their lively and rambunctious ways. She loved shopping and all forms of retail therapy. She attended fashion shows in New York, gambled in Las Vegas, and road cable cars in San Francisco. She walked along the Seine, while drinking the finest French wine, drank great warm beer with fish and chips in a London pub; and ate a hot dog while at Game 7 of the 1987 "World Series" in Minneapolis. She loved learning new things. She studied magnificent art and treasures in the "Minnesota Marine Art Museum" in Winona, Minnesota; the "Louvre" in Paris, France; the "American Museum of Natural History," in New York, New York; the "Smithsonian" museums in Washington D.C.; and the "British Museum" in London, England. She listened to the finest classical music performed by the Minnesota Orchestra. She toured the Hearst Mansion in California, and ancient English Castles where Henry the VIII and Anne Boleyn walked, and centuries old tapestries still hang. She attended plays on Broadway. She enjoyed concerts by Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, and Billy Joel. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She enjoyed diverse talents such as Joan Rivers, and Liberace, and saw them each perform many times. She experienced awe touring Civil War battle fields where our nation fought for its most deeply held beliefs. Most importantly she lived and loved the ultimate wonderment of motherhood through our daughters Kathryn, and Rebecca. Together they lived and enjoyed the many unique facets of the precious mother-daughter bond. She also endured with good humor, fishing vacations with me (husband of 38 years, Mark) in northern Minnesota where she discovered the delights of the Walleye shore lunch cooked over an open fire. She worked in the insurance industry for 30+ years; starting at Austin Mutual, then at Marsh & McLennan and culminating at Kraus Anderson, where she was loved and cared for as a person as well as valued as an employee. It was a rare and special feeling for her. She made many wonderful friends along her life journey. They were a source of comfort and fun all throughout her life. There was also sadness in her life. Lori's younger brother died at a young age. She lost 358 friends, colleges, and co-workers from Marsh & McLennan on 9/11. She fought cancer for five years and defiantly wore her head bald all during her chemo treatments. She beat cancer every day for 2005 days. Lori lived life on her own terms, but for far too short a time, I loved her and I miss her.
