Livingston, Nancy Wheeler Mom died peacefully this week, at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Porter Wheeler and Helen Harper Bristol. her husband, J. Clarke Livingston, her daughter, Penelope, and her siblings Sally Ramirez, Bill Wheeler, and Peter Wheeler. She is survived by her daughters, Susan, Nancy (Tom) Rothman, Victoria, Leslie (David Miller), and her son, James. She will also be missed by her beloved grandchildren, her nieces and nephews and her many long-time friends. Mom had a gift for being special to many people of all ages, including her children's friends. She was always there when we needed her. She was kind, reassuring, caring, fun, lovely and intelligent, we could talk to her about absolutely anything without feeling judged. She dragged us to the symphony and the art institute, instilling in us a love of art, music and nature. Our summers on Madeline Island were television- and radio-free, much to the consternation of her kids. She was also a raving chocolaholic, and would steal food off our plates (sandwiches often had a bite out when we got them). She loved her neighborhood friends on Wentworth Avenue; "the door was always open" at our house. She was a full-time mom, as well as a nursery school teacher, a volunteer at the old Abbott Hospital cafeteria and the restaurant hostess at Donaldson's in Rosedale. Her cherished memories were of her time with her father, husband, children and grandchildren. She had special memories of her AFS biking and camping trips in France and England, and all her trips and time spent in Switzerland. She loved to travel and passed this passion on to her children and grandchildren. Visitation at Lakewood Cemetery Garden Mausoleum on Monday, October 12, from 10am-12pm. Private family interment. Memorials preferred to the Animal Humane Society of Golden Valley and Twin Cities Public Television.
