Savage, Gerald "Jerry" Was born on February 19, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Thomas and Myrle (Larsen) Savage. The days preceding Jerry's birth had temperatures in the single digits or even negatives, characteristic of a harsh Minnesota winter, but his birthday finally saw the temperature rise above freezing, a testament to the consistent warmth and brightness Jerry brought to the lives of those around him. Jerry grew up in Minnesota with his brothers Thomas and Robert who predeceased him, and sister Nanette. Jerry enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family during childhood - often recollecting fond memories of fishing, hiking, and playing with his siblings and parents. Jerry was proud of his Navy service during the Korean War, and worked many different jobs throughout his life, including stints as a photographer and stockbroker. Jerry's intelligence and multifaceted interests also led him to enjoy many different hobbies, including reading extensively about history, keeping up with politics, and sculpting. Jerry met his late wife, Janice "Jan" (Steege) Savage as a young adult. Jerry and Jan were loving guardians to many black cats, avid gardeners, thorough genealogists, and enthusiastic travelers over their decades of marriage. In their later years, Jerry was a devoted caregiver to Jan as she experienced health issues. Following Jan's death in 2021, Jerry moved to Iowa to live closer to his extended family often enjoying sharing dinner with them and watching classic films. He was always eager to share advice or articles with family to help them stay informed and safe. Jerry will be sincerely missed by his surviving family: his sister, Nanette Savage, sister-in-law, Nyla Crain, great-niece Carin Crain, and many Fallon and Madole cousins.
