Marnell, John W. passed away peacefully surrounded by family May 11th due to respiratory failure. Born 8/16/42 to Wally & Suzanne in Englewood, NJ where he grew up. John earned a degree in Economics from St Peter's University in Jersey City, NJ then a master's in health administration from the University of MN, leading to a Hospital Admin career & how he met Carol Piazza, wife of 57 years. John's career started at St. Mary's Hospital, Mpls, then hospital admin in the US Public Health Indian Health Service in Wagner & Eagle Butte, SD. Traveled south to St. Joseph's Hospital Tucson, AZ for 14 yrs before moving back to MN to St. Mary's with a final move to Hudson, WI as CEO of Hudson Hospital where he was instrumental in the new hospital campus. Hudson became home for 35 yrs. John was civic minded and a community builder, volunteering as a board member of countless organizations in the St. Croix Valley including Hudson Rotary, Hudson Hosp and YMCA Camp St Croix. Survived by wife Carol (Piazza), son Chris Marnell (Marilyn); Elena, daughter Jen Hawkins (Tom); Clemmie, Campbell, Birdie & Gigi, daughter Colleen Suhanosky; Vivian, Marcella & Roman and son Tim Marnell (Sheri); Owen, Evelyn, Charlie & Edison. 6/7/24 4:30 - 7 pm visitation @ O'Connell Funeral-Hudson, WI. 6/8 10 am visitation, 11 am Memorial services - St. Patrick's Church - Hudson, WI. 6/8 1-4 pm Celebration of life-RCU Discovery Center YMCA Camp St. Croix.
