Bailey, Karen Lee (Hafdal) of Fridley, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Karen was born on August 31, 1945 to Arthur and Lois Hafdal in Reno, NV. She grew up in Alexandria, MN and graduated from Alexandria High School, attended St. Cloud State University and then moved to Columbia Heights to raise her family. Karen was a special education para-professional for 34 years at Pinewood Elementary in the Mounds View School District where she made many lifelong friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. She always made sure her home was festively decorated for EVERY holiday. She was a big sports fan - especially for any team her grandsons played on! She was also a proud fan of the Alexandria and 'Hites' high school teams as well as the Minnesota Wild and Vikings. She enjoyed concerts, especially Neil Diamond, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Every Christmas she would welcome us home with Dolly & Kenny's 'I'll Be Home With Bells On' playing in the background while she was dancing. She loved going to the theater and watching her Hallmark movies at home. Karen loved to travel and enjoyed many fun annual family trips to Arizona, Alexandria and Grandview Lodge as well as mother/daughter adventures to New York, Charleston, Washington D.C., Dollywood and San Francisco. Most of all, she treasured spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Lois Hafdal; brothers Gary and Tom Hafdal; and in-laws, Walter and Bernice Bailey. Survived by daughters, Kristin Bailey (Kevin Gorg) and Teresa (Scott) Anderson; grandchildren, Bennett and Will Anderson and Trina, Maddie and Annika Gorg; siblings, Jim (Wanda) and Rich (Sheridan) Hafdal; nieces and nephews, extended family, her 'middle daughter' Linda Paulson, and grand-dogs, Eddie, Fenway and Brooks. Funeral service Thursday, May 30th at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH (4030 Jackson St. NE, Columbia Heights) at 11am with visitation one hour prior and lunch following mass. We encourage you to wear bright colors in her honor. Memorials preferred to the Down Syndrome Foundation & Camp or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. kozlakradulovich.com "A Celebration of Life" 612-789-8869
