Bishop, Nancy Jane (Justus) Age 83, of Friendship Village in Bloomington, MN, formerly of Edina, MN, passed away peacefully on May 14. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Bess Justus. She is survived by her loving husband James Bishop, M.D.; their 60th wedding anniversary would have been June 20, 2024. In addition, her beloved children, Anne Catherine Bishop of Chicago, IL, Stephen Justus Bishop (Shannan) of San Francisco, CA and Katherine Elizabeth Bishop of Saint Louis Park, MN, along with her pride and joy grandchildren Ella Jane, Chloe Anne, and Madison Sayre, all of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by her brother, James Justus (Marti) of Rio Verde, AZ, nieces, nephews, and several special friends and their families, some of whom she has known and loved for over 60 years. Nancy grew up in Hopkins, MN, and graduated from Hopkins High School before receiving her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Minnesota. Nancy was crowned Raspberry Queen, completing all the responsibilities with great care. In 1964, she married her loving companion for life, Jim. Together they moved to Milwaukee, WI while Jim completed medical school. During this time, Nancy had her first two children and met many new friends- establishing a great life for their young family. When Jim was called to serve in Vietnam, Nancy lovingly attended to the household and care of their two small children. Upon Jim's return from the war, they moved around the country until his service ended and then settled in Minnetonka, MN. This is where they had their third child and Nancy became involved in the retail industry where she worked part- time for over 30 years. Nancy loved traveling with friends and family, watching her favorite sports teams, and visiting with friends. You could often find Nancy cheering on her kids at ballparks, rinks, recitals, and competitions. After she became "Nana" her entire world became about devoting her love, care, and time to her grandchildren. There was nothing she liked better than her abundant trips to the Bay Area to visit and play with her granddaughters as well as spoiling them each summer at the cabin on Cedar Lake. She loved watching them grow into such intelligent, talented, beautiful young women. Nancy was born with especially high morality, values, and integrity and that made her stand out. To know Nancy is to love her, she will be greatly missed but we know she is shining upon us. A celebration of life will be held with a service at Pax Christi Catholic Church (12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie, MN 55347) on Thursday, June 6 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior and a reception at 1 pm at Olympic Hills Golf Club (10625 Mount Curve Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55347). Private burial at Fort Snelling. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Friendship Village whom Nancy adored and Fairview Southdale Hospital who was so loving and caring to Nancy and her family in her final days. In place of flowers, donations can be made to myeloma.org or the donor's choice. Washburn-McReavy.com
