Janet "Jan" Schrantz, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. She was born on October 20, 1940 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Pete and Viola Held. The oldest of 10 siblings, she being a caretaker came naturally to her. She went to St. Cloud School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1961. She married Michael Schrantz on September 28, 1963 and together they welcomed four beloved children. Throughout her 60 years of marriage, she and her husband found community and friends in various locations: Twin Cities, Red Wing, Winona, Omaha, Rapid City, New Hope, Cedar Rapids, Quad Cities and Fort Myers. Whether it was caring for her loved ones or complete strangers, Jan had a servant heart and was always kind to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was quick to laugh, loved playing cards and other games, was an avid puzzler, and enjoyed sports, among many other heartening qualities. A constant joy to be around, there are truly no words to describe the comforting presence she provided to those around her. A devout wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Jan is endlessly loved and will be forever missed. Jan is preceded in death by her father Pete, mother Viola, brother Mark, and son-in-law Frank Sud. She is survived by her husband Mike, son Greg (Ann), daughter Beth (Gil), daughter Maria, son Matt (Amy), grandchildren Katie, Tori, Michael, Ryan, Mitchell, Paul, Jackson, Samantha, Jenni, Stephen, eight siblings and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, June 21st at 10am, with Mass at 11am followed by a luncheon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 8701 36th Ave. N., New Hope, MN 55427.
