Lynn Marie McGowan, age 75 of Palos Verdes Estates, California, passed away on January 2, 2024, following a 23-year battle with the aftereffects of cancer. Her strength and determination to accept and overcome this medical condition became her hallmark. She was admired, loved, and treasured by her many friends and family. Lynn was born in Montevideo, Minnesota, on August 17, 1948, to Marly and Mary Ann Aamot, and moved to Minneapolis after high school graduation. She spent much of her life in Minneapolis working in international travel for Northwest Airlines (Delta Airlines), retiring in 1993. She moved to Southern California in 1995 after her husband's job transfer. She was the epitome of fashion and was always dressed accordingly. Her class, style, grace, and dignity were always evident, whether she was hosting an event or attending her children's sporting activities. After retiring from Northwest after 23 years, Lynn pursued her dream to sell designer women's clothing. Even while focusing on her goals and aspirations, she still found time to give back by volunteering at local hospitals. Lynn particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling internationally to explore different cultures and her Norwegian heritage, spending time in Vail, Colorado, as well as gourmet cooking. We will miss her so. Lynn is survived by her husband of 34 years, David McGowan (Palos Verdes Estates, CA), her son, John Rosenquist (Fort Worth, TX), stepsons: Christopher (Jane) McGowan (Victoria, MN), Brian (Ashleigh) McGowan (Newbury Park, CA), and David (Sharon) McGowan (Centennial, CO), and her grandchildren, Caitlin, CJ (Chris/Jane), Katherine (Brian/Ashleigh), David and Graham (David/Sharon). A celebration of Lynn's life was previously held in California. A graveside service will be held on Friday May 31st at 11am at Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis. Please meet just inside the front gates of the cemetery at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her honor to one of the following: Torrance Memorial Foundation (torrancememorialfoundation.org) Palos Verdes Estates Foundation (pvefoundation.org) Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
