Barbara Lynn Schommer

Schommer, Barbara Lynn passed away on March 11, 2024 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester MN. She was born on February 16, 1947, in Mitchell, SD to Gordon & Elsamarie (Nordquist) Thune. She graduated from Mitchell Senior High School in 1965. She graduated from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD with a BA in Nursing. She continued her education while working in the home health profession at the University of Minnesota where she earned her MS degree in nursing. Preceded in death by her husband, Tom Schommer; her parents, Gordon & Elsamarie Thune; & brother Ronald Thune. Barb is survived by her brothers, Gary Thune (Avis), James Thune (Jeanne) & David Thune (Corrine); cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews; great-great nieces & nephews; her foster daughter, Thuy Lam & Thuy's two sons. Memorial service 11AM Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, (16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie) with visitation at 10AM & lunch following.
