Sunnarborg, Edith "Edie" Marcella (Haugan, Amdahl) Passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2024, at the age of 89. Edie was born at home in Orrock, MN, on August 15th, 1934 to Maynard and Ethel (Syverson) Haugan. Edie graduated from Elk River High School in Elk River, MN in 1952, graduated from the Swedish Hospital Nursing Progam in (1952-1955), and worked as a nurse until (1969) when she then became an instructor at Anoka Technical College. In 1974, Edie was the first to earn an Associates Degree in Vocational Policy at St. Cloud State University and then went on to get her Bachelors of Science degree in Vocational Education from St. Cloud State. While teaching at Anoka Tech, Edie and Karrone Becklin coauthored the book, Medical Office Procedures. Edie also went on to form a company called Meducation, writing several medical workbooks and producing two educational videos. Edie married John Amdahl in 1957 and together they had 5 children: Jill, Charleen, Bruce, Keith and Kyle. They divorced in 1969. In 1972 Edith married Jack Sunnarborg who brought two more children, Brad and Brenda, into the mix. Edie and Jack enjoyed traveling and spending time at their trailer in Pathfinder Village. In 1993 eight years after Jacks death Edie moved to Big Lake where she created and tended her beautiful gardens and enjoyed lake life. Edie loved quilting and made hundreds of quilts for charity over the years and was quilting up until her death. Edie also loved reading, making cards, and spending time with her family. Edie loved to travel and would winter in Arizona after retirement. She also traveled several places with Jack, including trips to Russia and Mexico. Edie and her sister, Muriel, traveled to Norway and to Canada to research their genealogy and Norwegian ancestry. Edie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Sunnarborg, step daughter Brenda Sunnarborg, sister Muriel, and Leo Deschenes, and son-in-law Bob Svare. Edie is survived by her children ; Jill (Tom) Lind, Charleen Amdahl, Bruce (Susan) Amdahl, Keith (Heidi Washkuhn) Amdahl, Kyle (Jonathan Johnson) Amdahl and Brad (Joni) Sunnarborg. Grandchildren; Karleen (Kyle) Krych, Karissa (Nate) Posterick, Nick (Jessica) Lind, Travis Amdahl, Eric Amdahl, and Hazel Sunnarborg. Great Grandchildren Keegan and Kyla Krych, Lila and Owen Lind, Jackson Amdahl, brother Curt (Gladys) Haugen, along with many other relatives and friends. A celebration of Edie's life will be held on June 2nd, 2024 at the Coon Rapids VFW. (1919 Coon Rapids Blvd, Coon Rapids, MN 55433) from 1-4 pm (lunch will be served).
