December 19, 1964 - March 31, 2024 Colonel Anthony Albert Franzese, USAF (Retired), passed away on March 31, 2024, at the age of 59. Tony retired from the United States Air Force in 2016 after a remarkable 26 year career with multiple deployments, one of which was a tour in Iraq as Director of Intelligence with Combined Joint Task Force Troy that focused on countering the improvised explosive devices (IED) threat to coalition forces across Iraq. Throughout Tony's career, his exceptional service and leadership was recognized with various honors, including the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, and two Defense Meritorious Service Medals. His last position was Director of Intelligence at Headquarters Twelfth Air Force Base (Air Forces Southern) at Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona. Following retirement from active duty, he contributed his expertise as an operations integration & innovation planner at 16th Air Force with Booz Allen/Leidos. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 32 plus years, Cha, and their three children, Michael, William, and Kathryn. He also leaves behind his mother, Rosemary, and siblings, Matthew, Patrick, and Nicole, and is pre-deceased by his father, Michael. Tony's life was commemorated at a funeral service in San Antonio, followed by a military committal service and burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on April 16.
