Sterner, Mary Carol (Ritz) 12/25/32 - 3/27/24 Survived by Martin, her devoted husband of 70 years; her children Rebecca Sterner (Brad), Barbara Sterner (Michael), Camille Sterner Sampers (Mark), and Phillip Sterner; her grandchildren Andrew, Anna, John, Matthew, Nathan, Jeanette, David, Corinna, Julie, Joleen, Gregory, Danielle, Natalie and Madeline; her great-grandchildren Oliver, Amelie, Maisie, Terran, Walter and Emma; her siblings John (Seonaid) Ritz, and Donald Ritz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Veronica Ritz; her siblings Phyllis Osborne, Delores Michels, Charlotte Meuer, and Maurice Ritz. She grew up on a farm in Nicollet, MN, where she developed her work ethic and love of animals, learned to cook and share nutritious foods. Carol and Marty spent 7 years in Germany while Marty was in the Air Force. During those years, the family explored much of Europe. Carol continued to travel extensively including Asia, the Middle East, Antarctica, and South America. In 1968, Carol and her family returned to Minnesota, settling in Apple Valley and Burnsville. Carol's career was spent in the insurance industry, and she was a skilled administrator. She was known for handling complex audits of large commercial enterprises. An enthusiastic volunteer, Carol spent many hours at her church, in her community coaching youth sports, and at the Nicollet County Historical Society. She also loved to study genealogy, garden, cook, and collect Red Wing pottery. Her funeral will be Friday, April 12, 2024, 11am at Church of the Risen Savior in Burnsville, with visitation one hour before. A funeral luncheon will be held at the church following the funeral.
