Taylor, John T. "Jay" 80, of Bloomington passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024, with his family by his side. Jay was preceded in death by parents John A and Margaret, daughter Susan and granddaughter Abigail. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Eileen, son Scott, his wife Katey and granddaughters Grace, Christina, and Audrey. Jay was raised in Rockland County, New York and graduated from the University of Rhode Island (URI) in 1964. Jay was a member of the ROTC and proudly served in the Army for several years after graduation. After active duty he began his career at Control Data Corp, a decision that ultimately brought him and his family to Minnesota in 1977. Jay and Eileen met at URI and were married in June of 1965. Jay loved his family deeply and gave his time to helping with and supporting his children in their activities like athletics and band. Jay was a lifelong volunteer at many organizations like the Boy Scouts of America, the Aquatennial and his college fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon where he worked with college chapters around the country. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving in many roles, including Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He also served St. Edward's as Parish Council Chair and Trustee and worked on a variety of committees and special projects. He loved being an amateur chef and hosting people in his home. Jay will be remembered as a man who could strike up a conversation with anyone and loved good company, good food and good wine. Services will be held Thursday April 4th at the Church of St. Edward, 9401 Nesbitt Ave S. Bloomington MN, 55437. Visitation will be at 10am and the Funeral will be at 11am followed by a luncheon in the St. Ed's Social Hall, the way Jay would want his life celebrated, with good food and a few laughs.
