Esch, Michael A. Caring husband, father, brother and uncle Age 87 Passed away on March 12 with Mary and family at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Otto N. and Hedwig; his wife, Helen, his brother Greg. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Esch, (Sid Smaka). Like his father, Michael was a successful entrepreneur who owned several supply companies. Most notably Esch Construction Supply which he founded in 1984 and sold to his nephew, Dan in 1998. His daughter, Mary worked alongside him for years at Nu-Way Torches and The Wind Clip Company, which he purchased in the 1970s. Just two years ago, Mike was helping Mary make torches at the shop, almost like the good old days. Dad, thanks for 59 years of loving support and mentorship in every aspect of life. Your long journey with Alzheimer's disease has ended. You and Mom are free. Mass of a Christian burial at 11 AM, Friday, March 22, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (515 Albert St. S., St. Paul). Visitation one hour prior to start of mass. Wake 4 to 6 PM, Thursday, March 21 at O'Halloran and Murphy (575 S. Snelling, St. Paul). In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Mayo Clinic specifically for Alzheimer's Disease Research Center in memory of Michael A Esch.
