Ebert, Clifford R. age 93, of St. Benedict passed away February 13th, just in time to celebrate Valentine's Day with wife, Lorraine whom he first met on that day 69 years ago. Cliff graduated from Chaska High School in 1948, where he participated on the football team as well as worked on his parents' farm. Later, he attended St. John's University where he played football under NFL Hall of Famer, Coach Johnny 'Blood' McNally. He joined the U. S. Air Force in 1951 during the Korean War. He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in April, 1955. While stationed in Colorado, he met Lorraine Clausen at a Valentines Day party and they were married 10 months later. On his first birthday after marriage, his oldest daughter, Jody was born. After serving his country, he attended Dunwoody Institute where he studied to be an electrician. He was a valued foreman at Sterling Electric for several decades. Always a farm boy, he reached his dream of owning his own farm in March, 1970. He then joined and became a member of the St. Benedict community as well as a respected member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He got his wish of residing on the farm until his death. After retirement in 1995, he continued to be involved with The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers where he was a member for more than 60 years. He was also a loyal member of the Charles Borak American Legion Post 45 in New Prague and a lifelong supporter of Minnesota professional and collegiate sports and Public Television and Radio. Our family is blessed to have had him as our father and grandfather. He was proud of his family and the strong work ethic he instilled in them. We will remember his unwavering faith in God and he will continue to inspire us from Heaven.
