Dr. John Henry Boyd, Emeritus Finance Professor at the University of Minnesota, Carlson Business School, died October 7, 2023 at 79 years of age. Prior to the Carlson School, he served as the senior research officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, where he earned the esteemed President's Award, and was an associate professor at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He attended the London School of Economics and earned his PhD in applied economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Boyd, born in Oregon, called Minnesota home for over 45 years where he enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, boating; and caring for his beloved pets. John loved his sons, family, and friends. Those that he loved, he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his brother George Dunnigan and parents John Hargrove Boyd and Louise Davis Boyd. He is survived by his sons Brendan Davis Boyd and Christian Joseph Boyd, his daughters-in-law Maggie and Margarita, and his grandchildren Peter, Margaret, Lainey and Nicholas.

John's family and friends will remember him for his sharp wit and intellect, his passion for his work and his love of nature. He will be greatly missed.
