Wright, Joyce On May 26, we lost a woman of great energy and many talents, our mother, Joyce E. Wright, at the age of 97. Born on May 6, 1926, Joyce married William H. Wright in 1947 and moved from South Dakota to the Minneapolis area, settling in Minnetonka. Her six daughters, Nancy Brekke (Bruce), Deborah Wright (Richard), Sally Wright, Wendy Mattera (Alphonse), Peggy Edlund, Laurie Kvam (Kevin); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren were the focus of her active life. When Joyce wasn't baking cookies for an after-school snack, knitting or sewing for her family, playing the piano, driving kids to dancing, swimming or music lessons, being a scout leader, playing tennis or golf, she enjoyed reading, singing in the Excelsior Congregational Church choir, traveling, and SHOPPING! She also found time to volunteer delivering for Meals on Wheels and as a member of T.T.T., an organization that sends young girls to camp. Joyce spent what she recalled as a "perfect childhood" in Mobridge, South Dakota. After graduating from high school she spent a couple of years working in Seattle before returning to South Dakota to attend the University where she met her future husband, Willie. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 16 at 11:30am at the Congregational Church of Excelsior, MN. Neptune Society-Golden Valley, MN
