Pitt, Gordon Walter "A true friend is the one who stays behind for you when everyone else leaves." Unknown Gordon Walter Pitt lived and believed in this motto, always putting the welfare, health, and feelings of friends and family before his own. He was born in 1940 to Walter and Charlotte Pitt in Montevideo, MN with brothers, Edgar and Roland. Besides working small jobs, his early years involved helping care for his mother and brother both of whom contracted Polio. He left in 1958 to attend business college in Minneapolis. Gordon worked a variety of jobs before attaining his goal of owning and operating multiple businesses, with a New Ulm pizza restaurant being his greatest professional endeavor. Gordon's incredible desire to provide for his family was the driving force throughout his life and his incomparable work ethic defined him as a father and a friend. Above all else, Gordon's children and grandson were his greatest accomplishments. Surrounded by his children, Greg and Leslie Pitt, Gordon quietly passed away at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and second wife Carole. Honoring his desire to be celebrated in life and to say good-bye to his many loving family and friends, Gordon's children hosted a virtual event shortly before his passing. And in true Gordon-fashion, he was humbled to learn of the tremendous impact he had on so many people. In lieu of flowers, Gordon asked that any gifts be made to his children's non-profit, Project Lolo.
