Gerald E. 'Jerry' Butler

Butler, Gerald E. "Jerry" age 92, of Apple Valley, passed away February 26, 2023. Jerry was born in Minneapolis and graduated from DeLaSalle High School in 1947. He then became a member (for over 74 years) of the IBEW Local #292, as an electrician and later a business manager. Jerry also worked for the MN Dept of Mediation Services for over 25 years. An avid sports fan, baseball was a favorite of Jerry's, especially the St Paul Saints, whom his grandson, Stephen, played for. Jerry was a social man, and enjoyed meeting up with friends at various places, and often at Canterbury Park. Family was important, and Jerry loved getting together with them and spending time together. Survived by sons, Thomas (Kay), James, Joseph (Jean Ranweiler), Michael (Karen) and Patrick; grandchildren, Stephen (Jessica), Annie, Molly (Stephen) Titcombe, Linda (Kurt Schwarzbauer) and Vincent (Laura Hedrick); and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Joan "Honey" Butler; and parents, Wilbert and Florence Butler. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Church of the Holy Name, 3637 11th Ave. S. MPLS, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A special thank you to Brighton Hospice and the staff at New Perspective Senior Living for their excellent care.
