Westman, Norma Irene Age 93, passed away peacefully. Norma was preceded in death by John, her beloved husband of 70 years. After graduating from Minneapolis Central High School, Norma worked as a secretary. She and John met when he returned home from serving in the U.S. Navy for the duration of the Second World War. Together they opened Westman's Floral in St. Louis Park in 1952 and operated it for more than 30 years. In the 1960's, they also opened Westdale Florists and Greenhouses in Minnetonka. When Norma wasn't working at the florist shop, she was a loving, fun and supportive stay-at-home mom. Norma was an avid golfer, reader, tennis player; and had a special group of friends that she and John traveled with extensively. In retirement, they loved spending their winters in Bonita Springs, Fla. Norma was an involved and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Norma was also preceded in death by her parents, eldest son Mark, brother Eugene, sisters Marjorie Anderson and Dorothy Vader. Survived by children and children-in-law: Cindy (Gregory Fries); Gary (Nancy Palmer Westman); Steven (LeAnn Sundhagen Westman); Christopher Duff. Survived by grandchildren: Daniel Fries (Cassie); Michael Fries (Julianne); Christine Fries Dierks (Cody); Nora Westman and Brianne Westman. Two step-grandchildren (Cody and Lauren Christensen). Five Great-grandchildren: Natalie and Hannah Fries, Luca and Annie Fries, Mila Dierks; sister-in-law Patricia Westman and nieces and nephews. Memorials preferred to Emerald Crest of Burnsville, 451 E. Travelers Trail, Burnsville, MN 55337. A Celebration of Life will be held for both Norma and John at the memorial service on March 9th, 2023, 11:00 AM with visitation 1 hour prior and luncheon to follow at Washburn McReavy, Hopkins Chapel, 1400 Main Street, Hopkins, MN. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
